Sam Kirschstein Smith

Promotion for Kayaker Sam

In Peppard we are rightly proud of our potential Olympian, seventeen year old Sam Kirschstein, who lives with his family in Church Lane, Peppard. He is the only Junior in the GB squad to move up to senior level at The Nationals for the next season starting in April this year. Says Sam ‘I’m going for a K1 spot next year and to get that I need to take ten seconds off my personal best. My goals for next year are the Junior European Championships in Paris and the Junior World Championships in Hungary.’ Sam’s two older brothers were also Junior International Champions and now brother Nico, studying physio, is Sam’s personal physio. A pupil at Henley College, Sam hopes to go to university and has his sights set on Kingston where he could carry on kayaking at the Royal Canoe Club. He has been supported by the Lloyds TSB Local Heroes Scheme and listed by UK Sport for funding for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Keep paddling, Sam, Peppard is right behind you!
