Welcome to Peppard News

Peppard News is a community newspaper delivered free to every household in the parish of Rotherfield Peppard. Here we have made available all previous issues of both Peppard News and Junior Peppard News. It is produced and delivered by a team of volunteers who endeavour to bring you all the village news and updates on village organisations supplied by a large community of contributors.

We welcome any additional contributions or letters that our readers may wish to submit. Peppard News is a quarterly publication and is also available to read or download from this website or can be sent to you via e-mail. Since 1st January 2012, Peppard News has been published by Peppard News Publications; an enterprise established by the current Peppard News team members. The original Constitution was amended in March 2016 and June 2018 this can be seen on the ‘About Us’ pages.

Contributions to Peppard News are accepted via e-mail. Advertisers can also contact us via this same e-mail address. To meet our publishing schedule please submit your contribution by beginning of February for the Spring issue, beginning of May for the Summer issue, beginning of August for the Autumn issue and then by the beginning of November for the Winter issue.

Have you ever heard of a ‘ghost broker’? No, we are not talking about things that go bump in the night – this is a lot scarier. ‘Ghost brokers’ are fraudsters who sell fake or invalid car insurance policies. Victims are sold fake insurance documents for a policy that does not exist, or for a genuine policy that has been set up using false details to lower the price of the premium. Read more

With consumer fraud on the rise, Neighbourhood Watch share their expert advice on avoiding common scams.

“Any of us can be caught out by scammers. They deliberately target our better natures and use psychological tactics, like being overly friendly or pretending to do you a favour; making you a limited-time offer, telling you everyone else has done something or trapping you into doing little tasks for them. If you sense something’s not quite right, give a clear “no”. Politeness and fear of offending can make us more vulnerable – so we want to tell people it’s ok to be firm in telling scammers you are not interested.”

Citizens Advice needs volunteer advisers

Citizens Advice.
There comes a time for all of us when we face problems that are too stressful or complicated to sort out alone.

Last year – one of the most difficult – our 90 advisers advised 9,000 clients on over 20,000 problems. We helped four in five resolve their debt, benefits, employment and housing problems. Many of these were caused by the Covid-19 crisis.

We now need more advisers as we move into the pandemic recovery phase. Read more..
