Nottakwire will complete its tenth year on 6th March 2020. During the past ten years, the group has averaged a membership of 75. There have inevitably been losses over the years – but new people join the group almost every term. We are a Community singing group for anyone who wants to enjoy “time out” singing with others in a friendly, fun and supportive group where previous singing experience is not necessary – but equally welcome if you have it!  We meet on alternate Friday mornings in Sonning Common Village Hall.

We aim to continue supporting local charities, as we have always done, with fund-raising events or when our own funds allow.  The total of money raised and donated currently stands at £23,100 and we have supported a very wide number of charities – local, national and international.

The group is very friendly, relaxed and welcoming. We do not sing the usual choir repertoire as it would be unsuitable, but we do sing a wide variety of music, both serious and fun, use a mix of scores and word sheets – and also work on technical aspects of choral music and voice production, gradually and gently.
Members make new friends and enjoy a social time together over tea/coffee at the end of each session.

Nottakwire is a NFP organisation and we rely on a sub. from each member, for each session attended, in order to cover the considerable costs involved. Everything needed is supplied for a £5 – hire fee (returnable if/when withdrawing) and the session sub has just been reduced to £3.  From 10th January, sessions will run from 10.00 – 11.15 followed by refreshments at no extra charge.

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept new members at present, because our books are full – – though – as with all “choirs” – men are always welcome!
