Joe Barraclough

Table Tennis Champion

We previously featured Joe as a Young Achiever in 2015 when, as a 14-year-old, he was identified by Sonning Common and Peppard Table Tennis Club as a rising star.

Having started playing the sport aged nine, Joe is now 17 and still plays at the club which meets at Peppard War Memorial Hall. He is now the club’s top seed and has won the singles title as well as the Reading Masters Junior Championship.

He told me he never wants to stop playing table tennis, he helps run the league and has been coaching younger players at Blue Coat School one evening a week for several years.

Joe enjoys table tennis as a great social activity as well as helping him to keep fit which he sees as more important than becoming a top player.
