Jamie Barlow

Talented Table Tennis Player

Sixteen year old Jamie Barlow lives in Caversham Heights and, since the age of ten, has been a member of Sonning Common and Peppard Table Tennis Club which meets at Peppard War Memorial Hall. He attended Sonning Common Primary School and now goes to Highdown School in Emmer Green where he is in Year 12 studying PE, Geography and IT at A level.

Although modest about his successes at table tennis, Jamie admitted to being the youngest in the 1st Division Team of the Reading League where he wins 75% of his matches.

He has also been attending another club twice a week for training since the age of 12 and sometimes travels to other clubs for matches. When he was younger, he participated in the National Championships for under 13s. Coming from a sporty family, he started playing tennis aged five and used to enjoy hockey and swimming but now table tennis is his main interest.

Jamie found lockdown hard, having to study at home on line and only having on-line coaching for table tennis for six months but he has come through ‘Covid free’ and since he is doing so well at table tennis at such a young age, looks to have a bright future ahead of him in his chosen sport.
