Women’s World Day of Prayer, 2018
The Peppard District Service will be held on Friday, 2nd March, at 18.30 at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Peppard Road, Sonning Common, RG4 9SS.  The Service has been prepared by the Christian women of Suriname and the theme is “All God’s Creation is Very Good!”  The Service lasts for about an hour and will be followed by a light supper in the Church hall.  All are welcome, not just women, and we look forward to seeing you there. Peppard Unplugged
19.30 at Peppard War Memorial Hall
The purpose of the Peppard Unplugged evenings is to enjoy musicians performing for their friends and guests in an informal atmosphere. A relaxed evening of all sorts of acoustic music. We would like to hear from you if you would like to perform. Contact: 0118 972 3609. Kingwood Common Conservation Group
Working Party – Venue – Cherry Croft RG9 5NA
The Kingwood Common Conservation Group work parties run from 9:30 to 13:00, and volunteers are welcome for all or any part of that time. No special skills needed, just come with your boots, old clothes, workgloves (if you have them). Hand-tools and briefings will be provided, along with tea/coffee/biscuits at break-time. You’ll need to be aged 18 or over, reasonably fit, and have plenty of enthusiasm. We welcome men and women of all ages.  Where we meet depends on where we are working but an email is sent to all volunteers on the mailing list about a week before to let them know where we will be. As in previous years we will provide home-made vegetable soup, bread, fresh fruit and tea or coffee. The lunch will be followed by a short presentation from the charity being supported that day. There will be no charge for the lunch but an opportunity to give a donation to the charity. Lifts can be arranged. We hope you will join us!
The charities to benefit this year are:
1.PACT (Parents and Children Together) the Reading based charity which is an adoption agency and supports children and families with issues such as domestic abuse, debt and mental health problems
2.Launchpad a local charity for the homeless, and;
3.Our local South Central Ambulance First Responders

A synopsis of the play is as follows:
Three couples, each with problems, arrive at the Home Counties home of their friend Charley, a prominent Government official, for a twentieth wedding anniversary; to find that their host has just shot himself through his ear lobe; and his wife is nowhere in sight. The evening descends into classic farce as confusions and mis-communications mount.

South Chiltern Choral Society
Verdi Requiem
South Chiltern Choral Society is delighted to be joining forces with the Parenthesis Choir, professional soloists  and the Reading Symphony Orchestra to perform Verdi’s Requiem at 19.30 at the Concert Hall, Reading Town Hall.
The concert begins with Wagner’s Tannhauser Overture which is one of the finest operatic preludes ever written. An epitome of the drama, it foreshadows the struggle between good and evil, and the final victory of good. The 12th Sonning Common “On Your Bike” – arrive by 10.00 for 10.30 start.
On Your Bike is open to everyone, regardless of age or ability, as it’s a ride, not a race! How far? You choose: 6, 12 or 20 miles. There is also a supervised playground cycle for youngsters who are still a bit wobbly on their wheels.

Sponsored International Canoe Race
Elizabeth King and her dad, Nick, have been in training all winter in order to take part in the Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Race on 31st March. They have to paddle (non -stop) for 125 miles along the Thames. Elizabeth has a disabled sister and her mum, Rosemarie, is an RDA Coach. They have set their target at £7,000!
