On 22nd December a car left the road and ploughed into the office of the FISH Volunteer Centre on the corner of Kennylands Road, Sonning Common. Fortunately no one was injured but the building was left so damaged that it needs considerable rebuilding work before it is usable again leaving the charity with an immediate problem of needing a temporary ‘home’.
Key personnel at the charity worked hard over Christmas getting the phone line and computer system redirecting to the home of the Office Administrator so the charity could be operational immediately after Christmas. A request was made to the Rector and Churchwardens that the Yorke Barber Meeting Room at Christ the King might be made available to FISH as a temporary office until it can return to its base in Kennylands Road. I am immensely grateful to them that there was no hesitation in agreement to this proposal. So for the immediate future FISH operates from a side room at the Church where it does not conflict with the use of the Church itself or the church hall.
